OH AVICII!

Anyone that has been around dance music or even a top 40 radio station should know who Avicii is or at least know him by the guy that made that "sometimes I get a good feeling" song and not that Flo Rida rip  off version. Avicii has really hit the dance music world hard, at only 23 he has launched himself to the 3 spot on DJMag.com's Top 100 DJ's in 2012. With his EDM stardom he has tried to bring a new spin on the dance music. He is in a sense a trailblazer, which can be first noted when he become the first DJ ever to perform at Radio City Music Hall (I was in attendance for this historical event). After doing historical things on his tour he turned his creativity to the studio with the Avicii X You project. In this project Avicii asked for contestants to send in melodies, basslines, beats/rhythms, breaks and effects.  With all these submissions he selected the best parts and worked them together to create the song X You. Soon after releasing X You he found himself at Ultra Miami were his creativity was on display once again. He took to the stage and brought out Mac Davis, Audra Mae, Dan Tyminski and a couple of members of Incubus to join him during his set. This immediately sparked a bit of criticism with many people complaining about his set being "country" and that his album will be the same. Avicii later responded to all of this on twitter stating "I really wanted to switch things up and do something fun and different, as I always strive for, and this album is about experimentation and about showing the endless possibilities of house and electronic music. Its about how to incorporate acoustic instruments from different styles and influences you wouldn't expect and still stay true to your own sound and musicality which for me has always been about the melodies and positive energy. I will always produce music that I love and listen to. But my album is certainly not "country", and people have gotten hung up on an instrument we used for the live cover of a song. Every song on the album is a fusion with house and electronic music." While yes Ultra a festival for EDM may have not been the best place to bring out acoustic instruments I support what Avicii is trying to do. Avicii was just exploring all the possibilities that electronic music is capable of and that is what makes electronic music so amazing, that it holds an endless amount of possibilities and that it just takes creativity to do something completely new. We are very excited to see what Avicii's new album will give us and what Avicii can come up with next.

THEY'RE ALIVE!

It has been 8 years since we were treated to a wonderful studio album from the masked French duo known as Daft Punk. Since the 2005 release of Human After All we have been held over with their Live album Alive 2007 and the Tron soundtrack for the Disney movie, but are thirst will finally be quenched on May 21st when Random Access Memories is released. We here at EMD are very excited about this upcoming album and can only expect that it will be full of hits.
Below is the iTunes link where you can preorder Random Access Memories

One Last Time

As the screen lowered on the Swedish trio it signified the end of an era in house music. For five years Swedish House Mafia were one of the biggest acts in the dance music scene and even become a mainstream radio sensation with hits like Save the World and Don't You Worry Child. Their journey included many big events and their largely anticipated, "One Last Tour". With dance hits like One, Miami 2 Ibiza, Antidote, and Greyhound it is not surprising that Swedish House Mafia became an monumental group. Their last performance came with many heartfelt moments with speeches from the members. Thank you credits rolled at the end of the set with thousands of sad fans singing Don't You Worry Child. Spine chilling is probably the best way to describe their last performance and the sights from their stage. While the end of SHM is upsetting we should all look forward to the future work of each member and hope for a reunion some time in the future. It is time for the SHM artists to grow on their own and bring us a new generation of exciting house music.

Coming Soon!

First off I would like to welcome and thank you for visiting our brand new blog Electronic Music Daily (EMD). Our goal for this blog is to provide a full experience for our readers with the latest tracks, sets, podcasts, news and events all in a convient location. What caused us to make the blog is that we experienced the difficulties and frustrations of going from site to site to find tracks and to listen to sets or mixes. This is why we created EMD in the first place. We hope that this site can become a exciting community like blog were people can comment and discuss their thoughts on DJ news as well as the latest productions DJ's come out with. We also plan for the future to let our readers become are writers by letting them send in articles they write and if selected they will receive credit for. Also if you are an up and coming DJ we hope to make this blog a place for you as well by taking the best mixes we receive from amateur DJ's and showcasing them to our community. We have big plans for this blog and hope you are as excited as we are.
